Hostmaker’s Home of the Month: May 2017

Here at Hostmaker, we have the absolute pleasure of managing a portfolio filled with uniquely stunning homes, for over 1000 wonderful hosts across 4 different cities. Which is why each month, we would like to take a moment to recognise just one of our fabulous homes, and to tell all of you fellow hosts and readers all about it!

In May, we are shining the spotlight on… Paul’s trendy flat in London Bridge! This 2 bedroom home with a sofa bed gives its guests that much sought-after Brooklyn loft feel, right in the heart of London. We sat down with Paul to pick his brains a little more about the flat, the area, and his experiences with Hostmaker and Airbnb.

Hi Paul! We love the loft vibe of your home. Was there a particular aspect of the flat that inspired you when you first saw it?

When I was looking for a flat I prioritised one criteria: Finding something unique. The building is a converted warehouse, it was initially a factory which produced vinegar! The original brick walls and the quirky layout make it a property with a story, it’s filled with character – an uncommon asset in London.

How would you describe the interior style of the apartment?

The design has a simple theme: industrial and rooted in its environment.

The area (London Bridge) is incredible – what would you say would be your top tip for guests?

In my home and my listing, I have attached a helpful guide for my guests to find the best restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs. But my number one tip would be to be adventurous and wander around. The area allows you to – it’s filled with unique and quirky shops, original historic infrastructure and a general cocktail of charm.

Would you consider yourself a local to the area?

I was born at Guy’s Hospital, a few hundred yards from the flat so in a sense I was local! However I have lived mostly in West London.

Have you travelled using Airbnb before? What did you most enjoy about your experience?

Yes, many times! What I love about airbnb is that unlike a hotel, I can get a taster as to what life is like for local people in this location. I can get an inside track on the neighbourhood, the food, the supermarkets and often share experiences with locals.

And, finally: how would you describe your experience with Hostmaker in 3 words?

Responsive, friendly and engaged.

Thank you to our lovely host Paul for taking the time to speak to us! Fancy spending your next city getaway in his flat? Book it here!
